Donating furniture is simple right up to the moment it has to come down the stairs. Lugg carries the piece out, down whatever stairs are in the way, and delivers it to the charity you picked, the same day, for an upfront estimate rather than a free slot several weeks out. Lugg is an on-demand moving and delivery service that collects furniture donations from your door and delivers them to any charity you choose, for pieces too heavy or too awkward to get down the stairs alone.
The mattress is the piece most likely to be refused
If one item is going to get turned away, it's a used mattress. Plenty of donation centers won't accept them at all, the rules differ by state and by center, and Savers publishes mattresses on its decline list outright. Large appliances, anything torn or stained, and furniture that's already broken tend to follow. So call the center you're donating to and confirm they'll take the specific piece before you book, because their crew can still decline it at the door and what one center accepts doesn't mean another will.
Couches, sectionals and sleepers
A couch is the piece that defeats a car, a friend and a doorway on the same afternoon. Sectionals are the forgiving ones because they come apart; sleeper sofas are the opposite, since the folding frame makes them far heavier than they look. Measure the narrowest doorway and the turn at the top of the stairs before you book, because that turn is what stops a sofa that cleared the front door.
One booking, the charity and the recycler
When a center won't take the mattress, the trip still works. One booking holds up to five stops, so the dresser and the dining chairs can reach the charity while the mattress goes on to a recycling facility or transfer station in the same run. Plan those stops when you book and they're in the estimate you see before you commit.
What you'll see before you book

There are no hourly minimums, so a twenty-minute couch run costs twenty minutes of work instead of a two-hour block. Pick the vehicle that fits the piece, and have small items bagged or boxed before pickup.
