I had specifically filled out that I sending 2 twin bed frames and 4 counter stools, and dishes. Your website brought up a number of sites for donations and I picked the one closest to the moving site to reduce cost. Whether a free charity truck reaches you comes down to your ZIP code, how far out their next slot sits and whether they'll take the piece at all, and the answer changes from one organization to the next. A booking of your own removes all three variables. Lugg is an on-demand moving and delivery platform where you book local movers to collect donations from your door and deliver them to any charity you choose, for the loads a car won't hold and the days a charity truck can't come.
What a free charity pickup asks in return
Free is the right price when the timing happens to work. When it doesn't, the cost shows up elsewhere: a slot weeks out, a route that skips your address, a list of items they can't accept, and a crew that can still decline something at the door if it turns up damaged. Every organization sets its own rules, so call the one you're donating to before you plan around it, because what one takes doesn't mean another will.
One load, several charities
This is the part a single charity's truck can't do. Bags of clothes, boxes of housewares and the armchair nobody wants to carry down can all go in one booking, and one booking holds up to five stops. So the clothes reach one place, the furniture reaches another, and anything nobody accepts goes on to a recycling or disposal site instead of back into your hallway. Plan the stops when you book and they're in the estimate you see before you commit.
Any charity, including the small local one
Lugg movers deliver to Goodwill, the Salvation Army, Savers, Habitat for Humanity ReStore and the Furniture Bank Network, and equally to the thrift shop two streets over, a shelter, a church or a school drive. You give the address, so the choice of who receives it stays yours rather than being set by whoever happens to run a collection route near you.
What you'll see before you book

There are no hourly minimums, so a half-hour donation run costs half an hour of work rather than the two-to-four-hour block a moving company would quote for the same trip. - Box: 12–16 ft long × 6 ft wide × 7 ft tall.
- Box+: 18–24 ft long × 6 ft wide × 7 ft tall. The largest option, built for commercial relocations and anything that needs maximum cargo space.
Tip: Pickup trucks carry a tarp for light rain, but book an enclosed truck — Van, XL, Box or Box+ — if heavier rain is forecast. When in doubt, size up.
Not all box trucks have a lift gate. If your charity donation pickup needs one, say so in the 'What are you moving?' field when booking and Lugg will do its best to accommodate.
