Inside a Decade Driving for Lugg: Edgar’s 10,000-Move Story
Edgar looks back on 10 years and 10,000+ Luggs, including his first sofa delivery, memorable customers and the advice he gives new drivers.

Edgar still remembers the white sofa. It was his first Lugg delivery, a pickup at CB2 in San Francisco, and the loading area was chaotic. He was nervous about getting it right. His partner helped him through it, and the sofa reached its destination without a problem.
Ten years later, Edgar has completed more than 10,000 Luggs in his own XL van, earning a perfect 5.0 rating across more than 6,800 five-star reviews.
Lugg is an on-demand moving and delivery service that matches customers with local Lugg movers for furniture delivery, store pickups and apartment moves. Drivers like Edgar supply the vehicle and moving equipment, working alongside a helper on two-person jobs.

What does Edgar enjoy most about driving with Lugg?
Before joining Lugg in 2016, Edgar worked in construction. He wanted a change and hoped to find work that felt more fulfilling. After 10,000 moves, he says the people are what make the work worth doing.
"For me, every day is truly good from start to finish, basically because I love my job. I really do it with pleasure. To me, it’s not only work, it’s about helping people."

Ten years of customers, from difficult moves to famous faces
One customer turned out to be a famous Bay Area athlete. But Edgar’s ten years with Lugg have included every kind of customer, including difficult ones.
"Over the past ten years, I have learned that not all clients are the same. Sometimes you encounter difficult clients, but our goal is to deliver quality work and ensure client satisfaction."
Across more than 6,800 five-star reviews, Edgar has maintained a perfect 5.0 rating. He says the thank-you at the end of a difficult move is what stays with him.
What does Edgar check before the first lift?
Ten years of moving have taught Edgar to inspect the entire route before touching the furniture.
"The first step is to measure the piece, then measure the door or staircase and the location where it will be installed."
That check lets the crew plan the route before the weight is in their hands.
Edgar remembers the uncertainty of being new. When newer Luggers wonder whether they can handle a job, he encourages them to stay positive.
What makes a good driver-helper team?
Edgar has worked as both a driver and a helper, so he knows the job from both sides.
"It really is a team effort, and the work is the same regardless of the position, doing everything right from the beginning to avoid repeating tasks and ensure complete customer satisfaction."
Drivers earn more because they supply the vehicle and equipment. Depending on vehicle size, Lugg drivers average $28–$47 an hour, while Moving Helpers average $18 an hour, plus tips. Read how driving with Lugg works, or sign up to drive with Lugg if you have a qualifying vehicle.
What has driving with Lugg made possible for Edgar?
Edgar is Lugg’s highest-earning Lugger. Over ten years and more than 10,000 Luggs, Lugg has paid him more than $1 million, including mileage and toll reimbursements. His earnings are exceptional, not typical.
"My income from Lugg makes up a significant portion of my earnings. Thanks to it, I’ve been able to provide a good quality of life for my family and achieve my personal goals. Maximum satisfaction."
He also values being able to fit the work around time with family and friends.

What advice does Edgar give new drivers?
Edgar has helped several people get started with Lugg, and he is pleased to see them doing well. Here’s what he tells new drivers:
"Learn something new every day to perform your job better, and do it with love and a sense of service, because that makes the work more enjoyable."
More than 10,000 Luggs in, Edgar says he is still learning. Outside of Lugg, he likes to read and listen to music.
