Lugg connects you with on-demand piano removals for upright, spinet, and console pianos. Since 2014, Lugg has completed 1.5M+ moves across 4,000+ U.S. cities. Piano removals work the same as any other Lugg booking. Pick a vehicle, choose your Luggers, see upfront pricing before you confirm — with one important caveat unique to pianos: weight.
Moving a piano? Book the right number of Luggers.
Lugg's per-Lugger weight limit is 100 lbs per person. That makes a typical upright piano a 3- to 4-Lugger job, not a 2-Lugger job. Rough math by piano type:
- Spinet pianos (36"–40" tall): 300–400 lbs — book 3–4 Luggers
- Console pianos (40"–44" tall): 350–450 lbs — book 3–4 Luggers
- Studio uprights (44"–48" tall): 400–500 lbs — book 4–5 Luggers
- Full uprights (48"+ tall): 500–700 lbs — book 5+ Luggers
If you only book the default 2 Luggers for a piano, the move won't be safe. Please either book additional Luggers or have extra help on site.
What about baby grand and grand pianos?
Lugg does not move grand pianos. For a grand, use a piano specialist. Baby grand pianos can be moved within the same property — room to room, or briefly lifted so a rug can be placed underneath. The baby grand needs to fit safely through every doorway and turn, and you'll still need to book enough Luggers for the weight.
