Guadalupe was friendly arrived early. He was incredibly helpful with loading my items and making sure it was all tied down before he left. The Goodwill wasn’t an easy location to do drop offs but he managed it well. Thank you! - Astrid

Goodwill didn't initially want to take all of our items, but your team convinced them to take them, saving us the challenge of another solution. Really appreciate it! - Amanda

They pointed out that Goodwill might not take some of my items (which turned out to be true), so they saved on some time with that. And they got everything out pretty quickly, too! - Erika

The guys were great! I appreciate their flexibility as Goodwill ended up closing early so they had to go to a different location. - Jenna

These guys are my heroes and saved my day! They went above and beyond by shifting direction after recognizing my items wouldn’t be accepted at Goodwill. They took my things all the way to the dump in SF and helped me out immensely!! A+++++ Also: one of my neighbors saw that we were going to leave a couple items at the “free corner” area where folks always leave items for taking. The guy yelled out his window and came out to take pictures, despite me telling him we were not going to dump items and taking the one item we’d left back into the truck. I have photo evidence we didn’t leave anything! These guys were polite and wonderful the whole time. - Hadley

Really helpful and knowledgeable. He knew what Goodwill would not accept and had a clean modern car that was easy to load. Thanks! - Malcolm

The movers were great but your app sucks! I selected a Goodwill near me that was on your app, but it was closed/shuttered. You guys costed me money (that I’d like back). - Solomon

The Goodwill that they originally went to was closed for donations, they communicated with me the entire time and went to another that was still open in another town. Wonderful guys!! - Carly

Super nice. They pivoted easily when the Goodwill near me wouldn’t accept the items. Really appreciate the flexibility! - Kate

These guys went above and beyond, stayed after the job to wait at the goodwill drop off for me to get there and finish the donation. Had a great attitude about the whole thing. - Logan

This was for transport of a donation to Goodwill - but it turns out that they would not accept it. Alfredo called me and followed through with an alternative - Barbara

Very professional, were able to quickly decide how to move my unwieldy couch out of the apartment; very knowledgeable about what would be accepted at Goodwill and checked ahead of time about dump hours to save time - thank you. - Ramesh

Very friendly & helpful, but we had a significant miscommunication today. I scheduled two different Lugg pickups - One scheduled for Under 30 Minutes, a smaller flatbed truck to take a few things to Goodwill. The other was scheduled for 3 to 4p pickup, medium van destination Shamrock Moving & Storage. Ultimately the van, who showed up sooner, took the things to Goodwill & the fellas w the flatbed loaded valuable, family antique furniture & unloaded at Shamrock. They did a fantastic job!!! - Renée

They were able to switch my destination address on the fly and get to Goodwill on a tight timeline before they closed - much appreciated! - Patti

They went out of their way to deliver to goodwill only to find out they were not accepting donations, even though I called to confirm! They ended up taking it somewhere else, really appreciate their flexibility! Very nice guys and super communication - Mari

Erick was great in helping me drop off a donation load. Goodwill had a long line to drop off but he saw that the Salvation Army across the street was opening up to receive stuff. He helped me open my boxes and then sort stuff into the Salvation Army bins. - Trudy

The guys came out to pick up the furniture they were really cool & very good, brilliant job!! The furniture was meant to be going to Goodwill, & I’m finding it really hard to understand why Goodwill wouldn’t accept a leather sofa that’s only two years old. So now the guys had to take almost new furniture to the dump And we got charged an extra $50 for that. At which point does this make sense? Almost new furniture nothing wrong with it ending up at the dump!!!! Your guys did their job, but this is not right surely there must be people out there who need furniture. There are homeless people who need a hand. I appreciate this isn’t your problem, but we have to do better than this. - Anthony

I need a major cutback on the price. I had 3 pieces of furniture that goodwill said they would take. Then he got there and said they wouldn’t take two of them. I paid for him to come back and put them back here. Driver was excellent and efficient. Highly recommend the person but the process and the App are quite misleading - Roy

Gerald was awesome! Even helped us find a Goodwill that allowed for furniture drop offs. Above and beyond! - Lauren

Really helpful and warned me goodwill might not take my couch. They tried when I asked anyway, and called a few other places to see if anyone would take it. Very friendly and considerate! - Ambika

Angel and Raul were great! They were fast, friendly, efficient and professional. When we ran into an issue at Goodwill, they were able to negotiate with the manager so our donated furniture would be accepted and could be resold vs brought to the dump. First time using Lugg and definitely will recommend this to family and friends in the city. - Rosalie

These guys were great, careful and speedy. I appreciated the tip Moncure gave me about calling ahead to Goodwill to make sure they were accepting furniture donations. Thank you! - Cynthia

Douglas and Omar were amazing. They were so helpful and were able to move everything efficiently! When the first goodwill I sent the items to didn’t take them, they found another one for me that took everything. They’re also very nice! - Sydnie

Couldn’t have asked for a better experience. It was so smooth and they were so kind and patient with me. Even took a load to goodwill for me. Can not recommend more highly! - Cristen

Sometimes, and it depends where you live. Goodwill is a network of independently run regional organizations rather than one company, so collection is set locally: some regions schedule furniture pickups, many are drop-off only, and large pieces are the first thing left off the list. Lugg is an on-demand moving and delivery platform in Santa Cruz where you book local movers to collect furniture donations from your door and deliver them to Goodwill or any charity you choose, for the pieces too heavy to get down the stairs alone.
Where a regional Goodwill does collect, yes. The catch is that free only exists where the service exists, and it comes with their calendar rather than yours. Lugg is a paid booking, priced on the distance between your two addresses plus the time the job takes, and it goes when you want it to. Worth comparing honestly: if your Goodwill collects and the date suits you, take the free slot.
Sofas, dining sets, bed frames and anything already broken or stained are the pieces most often turned away, and a used mattress is the one least likely to be accepted anywhere. Check with the Goodwill you're donating to and confirm they'll take the specific piece before you book, because their attendants can still decline it at the door and what one regional Goodwill accepts doesn't mean another will.
Goodwill stores don't deliver what you buy, so the sofa you found in the shop is yours to get home. Lugg does that trip too, in the same booking shape as a donation run, and one booking holds up to five stops so a drop-off and a pickup can happen on the same trip.
Enter your address and the Goodwill's address and the estimate appears before you commit to anything. Book on demand and movers are on the way within the hour, pick a one-hour slot for later in the day, or schedule up to 60 days out. Choose the vehicle that fits the piece, and have anything small boxed or bagged first.
Lugg can deliver most donation items, including furniture, appliances, clothing, and household goods, as long as they're in good, reusable condition suitable for donation.
Tip: Before booking your Lugg, double-check your local Goodwill furniture donation centers acceptance policy and drop-off hours in Santa Cruz.
Absolutely, Lugg can drop off your donations at any local charity, nonprofit, thrift store, or community donation center in Santa Cruz, not just major organizations like Goodwill, Salvation Army, or Habitat for Humanity.
Yes, Lugg can load and deliver several donation items or boxes at once, as long as everything fits safely in the truck. For multi-stop donation runs, you can add up to 5 stops per Lugg when booking.
Lugg's weight limit is 125 lbs per Lugger, or 250 lbs per item on any vehicle that comes with two Luggers: Pickup, Van, XL, Box or Box+. Anything heavier needs more Luggers on the job, so book a second Lugg for the same time window. There's no limit on how many items you move, and size comes down to which vehicle you choose.
Yes, smaller items like clothing, linens, or kitchenware should be packed in sturdy boxes or bags for transport. Having your items packed and ready helps your movers complete your donation pickup faster and keeps smaller items secure during transport. Your Luggers can wrap and protect furniture and large items for safe transport.
Not every donation center accepts all items, we always recommend calling ahead of time and confirming they are able to take your items. If the selected Goodwill furniture donation center cannot accept your items, your Luggers will contact you to coordinate another destination or return option. Standard rates apply for rerouting or additional stops.
Tip: Donation centers often reach capacity later in the day. To avoid delays or rejections, we recommend booking a morning arrival window and calling ahead to confirm that your location is still accepting donations.
Items may be declined if they're broken, stained, torn, missing parts, or unsafe. Most donation centers also reject old TVs, mattresses, or large appliances due to health or recycling restrictions.
To prevent your item(s) from being rejected, we recommend calling ahead to your Goodwill furniture donation drop-off center in Santa Cruz to ensure that the location accepts your items.
Yes, for estate cleanouts, office donations, or community drives in Santa Cruz, you can book as many Luggs as needed for pickup and delivery to your chosen Goodwill furniture donation location. Luggers will ensure items are delivered to your selected donation partners safely and efficiently. For multi-stop donation runs, you can add up to 5 stops per Lugg.
Yes, Lugg can haul away most items that charities or donation centers won't accept to a local recycling or disposal center in Santa Cruz. You can also combine a donation drop-off with a haul-away or disposal stop in one Lugg.
Tip: Not every recycling or disposal facility accepts all items, so we recommend calling ahead to confirm their hours, accepted items, and any potential fees.
Upon request and when available, Luggers can send you a photo confirmation as proof of donation. For official tax receipts, you'll need to get documentation directly from the Goodwill furniture donation center or charity at drop-off.
Yes, with Lugg you can book on-demand, same-day, and next-day Goodwill furniture donation pickups. Movers and a truck can arrive within the hour, or you can schedule up to 60 days in advance for a time that works best for you.
Pick the truck that fits what you're moving. Almost every option is a two-Lugger booking, so crew size isn't usually the decision — the Lugg Lite is the exception.
Tip: Pickup trucks carry a tarp for light rain, but book an enclosed truck — Van, XL, Box or Box+ — if heavier rain is forecast. When in doubt, size up.
Not all box trucks have a lift gate. If your Goodwill furniture donation pickup needs one, say so in the 'What are you moving?' field when booking and Lugg will do its best to accommodate.
We recommend that you or someone 18 years or older be present to provide access and confirm which items to take. However, you can also arrange a contactless donation pickup if items are placed safely outside or in an accessible area, just include those details in your Lugg booking.
Yes, you'll need to pack before your crew arrives, because Lugg doesn't provide packing services or supplies. Box or bag any small, loose or fragile items, including kitchenware, electronics accessories, office supplies and anything that could shift in transit.
Your Luggers bring moving supplies and equipment to protect furniture and larger pieces, but having your things packed ahead of time keeps your donation pickup quick, organized and damage-free.
Every Lugg Goodwill furniture donation pickup in Santa Cruz includes professional moving equipment, straps, dollies, moving blankets, and stretch wrap to protect your items and your space, plus a basic toolkit for light disassembly or reassembly. Pickup trucks also come equipped with a tarp for weather protection. Your Luggers will wrap fragile or bulky pieces for safe transport, take care to avoid damage to floors, walls, and elevators, and know how to get heavy furniture, appliances, and other large items through tight spaces, stairs, and doorways. This helps ensure a smooth, efficient Goodwill furniture donation pickup from start to finish. We do not provide moving boxes or mattress covers. Please have these items ready if needed.
