They were terrific. Arrived on time. Brought in the new box spring and new mattress. Set them into the frame. Took the old box spring and mattress and set it up in the room in the basement. They were very professional and would highly recommend them in the future to anyone needing anything moved. Thank you Lugg. - Irene
Very friendly, excellent service, arrived on time, did a great job navigating corners with the mattress. Would highly recommend them! - catherine
They were both great, and were kind enough to bring my mattress and box to the 21st floor. They were very careful with the walls and my items. I’d definitely recommend their services - Kevin
They moved a 200 lb mattress up three flights in a hundred year old building. They set up the frame and box spring for a perfect fit. Their effort throughout was consistently high and their attitude positive. Absolute pleasure to work with. Can’t recommend more highly. - Aaron
Mike and Daniel were excellent movers. They made moving into my storage unit so effortless and simple, while also working extremely hard moving my couch, mattress, and heavy table. They even helped me wrap my couch and headboard, to prevent dust, which was above and beyond. Would give 10 stars/5 stars, if possible! - Joseph
They had to take on my move at the end of their day as an additional job but did great and got my mattress moved to my apartment and into my room as soon as they could - Victoria
Joshua and John were calm and unphased by a tricky narrow staircase with a heavy large dresser. very professional and easy to work with! thanks! - Hope
Oscar and Fadil were professional and made it work through a tight staircase. I appreciate their help with this delivery! - Lily
Ramiro and Fadil were very professional, prompt, and helpful. Not only did they pick up early, but they also helped me get furniture protector pads on the feet of my couch and helped me get it set up. This was a tricky delivery - two wide couches up a wrapping staircase - but these two made it look easy. Thank you! - Sophia
Faced with inevitable talk of moving an 8.5 ft and hundred pound couch, Leonel and Jose did not back down. Even through the labrathine hallways of my shitty apartment building, they persevered, even though we had to dismantle the couch. You CAN NOT do better than these guys when it comes to a moving service. - David
They did an excellent job moving my new sectional into my apartment. My apartment building has very narrow doorways/hallways and they didn't let anything hit the walls!! They were super quick to move the couch in & were patient when I decided I wanted to roll out a new carpet underneath it after they had just finished putting it in place. So patient & kind!! Would definitely recommend them! - Grace
Dapo and Zachariah did a fabulous job! They were very patient due to a long wait with the freight elevator, and placed the dining table exactly where I wanted it to go - Isha
They were very kind and patient. It helped greatly because my building’s elevator went out of service right before they arrived. - Lillian
The freight elevator was too small for the sofa. Angel and Marcos went above and beyond what was required. They tried everything in the book to make it fit. They even tried moving it through the stairs. They coordinated with lugg support and delivered the sofa back to the store. Thank you so much Angel and Marcos. - Rohan
They did a nice job of finding the best option for getting my sofa into the unit. The box wouldn't fix on the elevator. - Juan
Reginald and Joseph were so sweet to help me rearrange the furniture in the room to make room for the daybed I bought. They even helped me put up the elevator pads that the building requires. This was my first experience with Lugg and I will definitely be using it again! - Nathalie
These gentlemen were exceptional. They went above and beyond to help me resolve an unfortunate sizing issues that prevented the couch from fitting in the elevator. Kind, professional, friendly. Thank you Freddy and Matthew. You made the situation much less stressful and the delivery process seamless. - Evelina
The big sofa wasn’t fit in the elevator. Corey and Antoine tried to move the sofa by stairs but it’s too long to fit the stairway. They were very patient. Though they weren’t able to deliver the sofa to the unit, appreciate their hard work - Grace
They were awesome. It took some extra effort getting my couch to fit into the elevator in my building but they made it happen. They were also very efficient and courteous. Would definitely hire them again. - John
Arrived on time, my bike was wrapped up in a moving blanket, I love that they cared and took the time to do that! Very friendly and professional. Would highly recommend. - Bill
They accommodated my request to lug my original sofa upstairs. I really appreciate that they did so, and they even grabbed a moving blanket from their truck to make that happen. - Valerie
Was hoping the items would be wrapped more as there was only one moving blanket on each, but overall a great experience! - Carly
When most movers probably would have thrown in the towel, these guys persevered and got the job done! Their task was to pick up a very bulky couch from my parents’ house and deliver it to my son’s apartment. And when I say the passageway into his apartment was narrow… I mean NARROW! 😂 They never gave up. They carefully disassembled the couch, somehow maneuvered it through the tight space, and then reassembled it once they got it inside. They had excellent communication throughout the entire process and kept us informed every step of the way. They were hardworking, determined, careful, and incredibly professional. It was clear that they genuinely wanted to do the job right. 5-star service all around! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I would absolutely recommend these guys to anyone looking for movers. They earned every one of those stars! - Zaina
They not only got it in with grace but was very friendly and helpful with letting me assist when guiding them through the narrow halls. I would use them again: all the best! - Spencer

A mattress is one of the few things most people own that fights back. One person can usually manage a twin. A full, a queen or a king bends in the middle, blocks your view of your own feet, and takes two people to move safely. Lugg is an on-demand moving and delivery service that moves mattresses, box springs, bed frames and headboards in Chicago, between homes, apartments and storage units. If you're looking for a mattress moving company for one piece rather than a whole house, that's the job Lugg is built for, and you can book it for the same day or schedule it ahead.
Moving mattresses is mostly preparation. Strip the bed first, because sheets and a duvet sliding around underfoot are what turn a two-minute carry into a fumble on a landing. Measure the narrowest turn on the route rather than the doorway itself, since box springs don't fold and a tight corner stops them where a narrow doorway often won't. Carry the mattress on its side rather than flat, which is how it gets around a corner at all. A king is 16 inches wider than a queen, and that's usually what decides whether it makes the turn at the top of a stairwell.
How to move a bed frame is the same job in reverse: take it apart instead of walking it through a doorway whole, put every bolt and bracket in one bag, and tape that bag to the rail it came off, so the bed goes back together without a hardware hunt at the other end.
This is the one that catches people out, and it's worth settling before you book. A cargo van measures about 4 feet across and 4.5 feet tall inside, which is enough for a twin, a full or a queen.
| Mattress | What it fits in |
|---|---|
| Twin, twin XL, full | Pickup, van, XL or box truck |
| Queen | Pickup, van, XL or box truck |
| King, California king | Pickup, XL or box truck. Not a cargo van |
| Bed frame and headboard alongside the mattress | Size up one from the mattress alone |
King and California king mattresses don't fit in a cargo van. Book an XL, which is 5.5 feet across and 6.4 feet tall, or a box truck. A pickup also works, because the bed is open rather than because it's bigger, so take the XL or the box truck if the weather's doing anything at all. The truck and crew size you pick is your call at booking, and when you're between two sizes, take the larger one.
Lugg movers arrive with stretch wrap, furniture blankets, dollies, lifting straps, tie-down straps and basic tools, and pickups also carry a tarp.
Lugg doesn't supply mattress bags, so if you want the mattress in a bag, have one ready. If you don't have one, the crew can wrap your mattress in stretch wrap instead. This matters most on a load-only job, where Lugg loads a storage unit, a container or a rental truck and doesn't unload it at the other end, because that's when the mattress stays wrapped without a crew there to unwrap it.
If the mattress is going into storage, load it last so it comes out first, and stand it on its long edge against a wall rather than laying it flat under boxes.
The truck and crew size you pick sets the base fare and factors in the distance between your addresses, then labor runs by the minute once the crew arrives at each location, with no hourly minimums. Lugg movers carry beds up stairs, into elevators and down long hallways. Enter both addresses and you'll see the estimate before anything is confirmed.
Up to five stops fit on one booking, so a bed moving out to a storage unit and a frame going somewhere else is a single job, and mattress transport from one room to another in the same home is a booking like any other.
