How do I choose my crew size for Movers only?

After you tap **Movers only**, the Crew screen asks you to pick **1 Lugger** or **2 Luggers**. 1 Lugger has the lower base fare and the lower per-minute labor rate, and suits a job one person can handle, like carrying boxes or moving lighter furniture. Pick 2 Luggers for anything that takes two people to carry, like a sofa, a dresser or a washer. Weight is the other thing to check. Lugg's weight limit is 125 lbs per Lugger, or 250 lbs per item when you pick 2 Luggers. If the job needs a bigger crew than that, book a second Movers only Lugg at the same address for the same time window. Each booking has its own base fare and per-minute labor, and Movers only has no mileage fee.

How does Lugg calculate my time?

The clock starts when the crew arrives at your address and stops when the last thing you asked for is done. Lugg bills that time by the minute with no minimum, so a 40-minute job costs 40 minutes. If the work finishes faster than you planned you only pay for what you used, and if it runs longer the crew can keep working at the same per-minute rate. You don't book a block of time, so it helps to have a rough idea of what jobs take: * **Rearranging furniture:** moving a few heavy items within your home usually takes about an hour. * **Loading or unloading a truck or pod:** 2–3 hours for a studio or one-bedroom, 3–5 hours for a two- or three-bedroom home. * **Event setup:** varies a lot, but an hour or two covers most table, chair and decor setups. My item was awkward, heavy and special! A Volkswagen bus bar! They carefully wrapped it in a blanket, and then a clear Stretchy material to keep it protected. A U-Box is U-Haul's portable storage container: it turns up empty, you fill it, and it gets hauled to wherever it's going next. The filling is a labor job and it isn't part of the container rental, which is why people go looking for movers separately. Lugg is an on-demand moving and delivery service that loads and unloads portable storage containers in Austin with Movers only, same day, for anyone who's already got the container and needs the lifting done.

What is a U-Box, and who loads it?

It's a container U-Haul delivers to your address and collects when you're done, sized for part of a home rather than a whole truckload. The loading is yours to arrange, and that's the part Lugg does. Type in your address, tap Movers only, pick your crew size, and movers can be on the way in as little as an hour, or scheduled up to 60 days in advance. If U-Haul's delivery slips, you can move the booking to another day, any time before the crew is dispatched.

No two-hour minimum on a U-Box load

U-Haul's own Moving Help marketplace books labor in blocks: two hours minimum, ten maximum, and unused hours aren't refunded if the crew finishes early. Lugg bills labor by the minute with no minimum at all, so a U-Box that takes fifty minutes to load pays for fifty minutes of labor. If it runs longer than you planned, the crew keeps working at the same per-minute rate.

Where your U-Box actually is

U-Haul gives you three ways to get one, and each changes how you book. If it's delivered to your place, the container and your things are at the same address, so book Movers only there. If you towed it home on U-Haul's trailer, same thing. If you're packing it at a U-Haul location instead, your things have to travel to the lot, so book a standard Lugg from your home to the U-Haul location, which comes with the vehicle.

Loading at one end, unloading at the other

A container gets filled in one place and emptied in another, so it's normally two Luggs rather than one, booked whenever each end actually happens. Load it before U-Haul comes to collect it. Book the unload once it's been delivered to the new address, which might be weeks later and a long way from the first crew.
