The BEST! Their communication was awesome. They called when they were on their way to pick up my special item, called when they had it and even when they were on their way. My item was awkward, heavy and special! A Volkswagen bus bar! They carefully wrapped it in a blanket, and then a clear Stretchy material to keep it protected. The first part of the bar would not fit through the front door. So they had to carry it around to the back of the house and they did it with a smile. They even had to move other furniture in the house to get it into the house & to the room where we wanted it. A U-Box is U-Haul's portable storage container — it turns up empty, you fill it, and it gets hauled to wherever it's going next. The filling is a labor job and it isn't part of the container rental, which is why people go looking for movers separately. Lugg is an on-demand moving and delivery service that loads and unloads portable storage containers in Austin, same day, for anyone who's already got the container and needs the lifting done.
It's a container U-Haul delivers to your address and collects when you're done, sized for part of a home rather than a whole truckload. The loading is yours to arrange, and that's the part Lugg does. Enter your address, choose the crew size you need, and movers can be on the way in as little as an hour, or scheduled up to 60 days in advance. If U-Haul's delivery slips, tap Edit Truck or Arrival Time on the booking and move it to another day, any time before the crew is dispatched.
U-Haul's own Moving Help marketplace books labor in blocks: two hours minimum, ten maximum, and unused hours aren't refunded if the crew finishes early. Lugg bills labor by the minute with no minimum at all, so a U-Box that takes fifty minutes to load costs fifty minutes. If it runs longer than you planned, the crew keeps working at the same per-minute rate.
U-Haul gives you three ways to get one, and each changes the address you enter when you book. If it's delivered to your place, the container and your things are at the same address, so put that address in both fields. If you towed it home on U-Haul's trailer, same thing. If you're packing it at a U-Haul location instead, that's two addresses: your home for the pickup, the U-Haul lot for the drop-off.
A container gets filled in one place and emptied in another, so it's normally two Luggs rather than one, booked whenever each end actually happens. Load it before U-Haul comes to collect it. Book the unload once it's been delivered to the new address, which might be weeks later and a long way from the first crew.
