I requested a pickup truck for a 72" long dining table. Transportation was changed to a van & the table did not fit without removing the legs. I charged the extra time for pickup & drop off for reassembly of the legs because of a smaller vehicle. - Cindy

ThIs was my fIrst use of Lugg. Discount BuIlders Supply told my that Uber pickup trucks won’t carry lumber. They recommended Lugg to get me and my stuff home. In my Lugg booking note, I wrote that I, me, am part of the trip. I go with my stuff. The guys said that they don’t usually give rides, but they squeezed me into the back of their extended cab. A real Christmas tree is a bad fit for a car in every way at once: it's long, it's heavier than it looks, the branches spring back out the moment the netting comes off, and it leaves sap and needles on whatever it rides on. So in practice the tree decides the vehicle. You pick the tree at the lot, the farm, the nursery or the hardware store, pick the truck it lies flat in, and a crew meets you there to load it and carry it inside. A Christmas tree delivery service is really just that: a truck, a crew, and the hour you'd otherwise spend tying a fir to a roof rack. Lugg is an on-demand moving and delivery service that carries Christmas trees in San Francisco, real or artificial, for people who have found the tree they want and no way to get it home.
A fresh-cut tree travels lying down, so measure the load space, not the tree. A Lugg pickup bed is at least 6 feet inside wall to wall, a van is at least 8 feet long, an XL van at least 10, and a box truck 12 to 16. A boxed artificial tree is easier to handle, though a pre-lit nine-footer in its carton is bulkier and heavier than most people expect. The crew brings furniture blankets, stretch wrap and tie-down straps, and a pickup also carries a tarp, which is what keeps sap and needles out of a car you'd otherwise be vacuuming until spring. Have the stand out and ready before the crew arrives, and they can carry the tree to the room you name and set it into the stand once it's there. One Lugg can make up to five stops, so the tree, the stand and a detour to the storage unit for the ornaments are one trip rather than three.
Christmas tree disposal is the harder trip: the tree is dry by then, the netting is long gone, and it drops needles on every surface between the living room and the door. Lugg moves it out the same way it came in, with one difference that matters: you choose and provide the destination, whether that's a recycling drop-off, a mulching site or a disposal site. Lugg carries the tree there and nothing more, so finding the site and checking its hours are on you. Many towns also run a free Christmas tree pickup at the curb for a week or two in January, which is worth checking first. Where that falls down is an apartment, because a dry tree coming down four flights and across town isn't the trip a curbside program covers.
