They were super friendly and on time. Overall it felt semi-professional and they could be a little more efficient (I had to point them towards Dollys at the storage unit to speed up the process because they only had a mini roller). They could wrap fragile things (I asked for a painting to be wrapped, but in the end they didn't do it). A refrigerator is the one appliance nobody wants to move themselves: it's tall, top-heavy, and it usually went in before the counters, the cabinets or the new flooring did. With Lugg, you pick the truck that fits your fridge, enter your addresses, and see your upfront estimate before you book anything. Lugg is an on-demand moving and delivery service in Boston that moves refrigerators, freezers and mini fridges, whether one is going to a new home, out to the garage, or home from the store or a Facebook Marketplace seller.
Most refrigerators should travel standing upright, so book a Pickup, XL or Box. A Van isn't recommended for a full-size fridge: its cargo area is 4.5 ft tall, too short to stand one up.
The cost to move a refrigerator with Lugg is an upfront estimate you see before you book, built from the distance between your addresses plus the time the job takes on site. There are no hourly minimums, so one fridge going across town is never priced like a whole-home move.
Fridge movers carry it up stairs, into elevators and down long hallways. If the old fridge needs to go somewhere too, that's a second stop on the same booking, not a second booking.
Moving a refrigerator goes faster when it's ready. Empty it the day before, take out the loose shelves and drawers, and defrost the freezer so it isn't dripping in the truck. If it has an ice maker or a water dispenser, shut off the water and disconnect the line, since Lugg movers don't touch plumbing.
Then check your manual for two things: whether it can travel on its side, and how long it should stand upright before you plug it back in.
