Loading and unloading a PODS container is a labor job, and it's the part the container delivery leaves out — PODS drops the container off and hauls it away, and everything that goes into it or comes out of it is down to you or to movers you hire. That work is essentially two separate moving days without the drive: boxes and furniture carried out of the house and stacked tight so nothing shifts on the road, then the whole container emptied at the other end and each piece carried to the room it belongs in. Lugg is an on-demand moving and delivery service that loads and unloads portable storage containers in Arlington Heights, same day, for people who've already got the container and need the lifting done.
You do, or you hire it out. PODS delivers the container to your address and comes back for it, and the loading in between isn't part of that. "Help loading a pod" is exactly what people book Lugg for: the crew, without the truck. Most people renting a container are moving a long way, and that's the appeal. PODS hauls it so nobody has to drive a truck across the country. Lugg is the local half at each end. A crew loads the container while it's sitting on your driveway, PODS takes it from there, and a second crew empties it once it's been delivered to the new address. So a container move is typically booked as two Luggs rather than one, often weeks apart and in two different cities.
PODS puts the container where its truck can reach. That's a driveway, a parking space, sometimes the street, and rarely right outside your door. On a container job the carry is usually what takes the time, more than the stacking does: a long driveway, a walk out to a shared lot, or a flight of stairs before you even get outside.
Everything at the back of the container comes out last, so what goes in first matters more here than on a truck you're emptying the same afternoon. Off-season clothes, books and the garage go deep. The kettle, the bedding and the tools you'll want on the first night stay near the doors. Point out which boxes those are and the crew will stack around them.
